EV charging for fleets and vans

For fleets, logistics companies and van operators planning how and where to charge.

Depot charging

Start with your vehicles’ daily mileage, when they return and how long they stay parked. Ask an installer to assess the site’s electricity supply, available space and charger requirements before choosing equipment. Include future vehicles in that discussion.

Charging at drivers’ homes

Check whether drivers have suitable parking and can install a charger. Agree a clear reimbursement policy: how work charging is measured, which electricity rate is used, what evidence is needed and when drivers are paid. Ask your accountant about tax treatment rather than assuming one rate fits everyone.

Public charging and fleet cards

Check the networks on your usual routes, charger access for vans and larger vehicles, and how drivers pay. Compare fleet card coverage, fees, billing and any differences from paying the network directly. A single card does not necessarily cover every charger.

Business electricity for depots

Business electricity contracts are different from home tariffs. Review expected charging demand, unit rates, standing charges, contract length and any capacity charges with your supplier or adviser. Our home tariff calculator is not a business electricity quote.
