Privacy
Short version: we don't want your personal data, and we don't keep it.
Your comparison answers
Your answers are saved in your own browser so you can come back to them. They are not sent to us unless you choose to create a share link.
Your postcode
When you enter a postcode, we send it once to Octopus Energy's public lookup to find your electricity region. We keep only the region (for example "London"). We don't store or log your postcode.
Share links
If you click "Share results", we store your anonymous answers (region, mileage, car efficiency, home use, charger type and yes/no answers) under a random link. No postcode, name or contact details. Share links are deleted after 12 months.
Price alerts (optional)
If you choose to set up a price alert, we store:
- your email address
- your anonymous answers (region, mileage, car efficiency, home use, charger type and yes/no answers, never your postcode)
- the best yearly cost we showed you, so we know what "cheaper" means for you
- a record of your consent: the wording you agreed to and when, and when you confirmed
- when we last sent you an alert
Why and on what basis: only to email you when a cheaper EV tariff appears for your setup. Our lawful basis is your consent under UK GDPR. We use double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the link in our confirmation email.
How long we keep it: until you stop alerts. If you don't confirm within 7 days, we delete your details automatically. When you stop alerts, we delete your email address and answers straight away.
Who else sees it: our email delivery provider sends the emails on our behalf and processes your email address only for that purpose. We don't sell or share it with anyone else, and we don't track opens or clicks.
Your rights: you can stop alerts at any time using the link in any email, and ask to see or delete your data through our contact page. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Contact form
If you contact us, we keep your name, email and message only to reply to you, and delete them when they're no longer needed.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting may keep basic technical logs to keep the site secure.
