Charging vans at drivers’ homes

Make home charging practical for drivers, with a clear and fair reimbursement policy.

Check each home is suitable

Confirm parking permission, installation requirements and electricity supply. Not every driver has a driveway or permission to install, so provide an alternative charging arrangement.

Agree fair reimbursement

Set out how work charging is measured, which electricity rate is used, what evidence is needed and when drivers are paid. Make the method clear before installation and review it when a driver’s tariff changes.

Plan for changes

Agree who owns the charger, who maintains it and what happens if a driver moves or leaves. Ask your accountant about tax treatment rather than assuming one rule fits every situation.
