Is a smart tariff right for my car?

A smart (supplier-controlled) tariff is right for you if your car or charger is on the supplier's compatible list and you're happy for them to choose when your car charges, as long as it's ready by the time you set. If your setup isn't compatible, you won't get the cheap rate for the car.
What "smart" means here
With a smart tariff the supplier connects to your car or charger through an app. You tell it how much charge you want and by when, and the supplier picks the cheapest, greenest times. In return you get a low rate for the car's charging.
Check compatibility first
Each supplier keeps its own list of compatible cars and chargers, and lists change. Check the supplier's current list for your exact car model or charger brand before you switch. In our calculator, if you tell us your setup isn't compatible, we show these tariffs as "Not suitable for your setup" rather than ranking them.
Who it suits
- Drivers who plug in most nights and don't need the car charged at a particular hour.
- People with a compatible wallbox charger or car.
Who it may not suit
- Anyone charging from a 3-pin plug, which usually can't be controlled by the supplier.
- Drivers who want full control over when the car charges.
This is an estimate. Check final prices with the supplier. We don't cover every tariff.
